Here is some additional information on CORN BURNING:
We have handled The TRAEGER Corn Furnaces and The Earth Stove with The Traeger Burn System since 1984. These units will burn "bin-run" shelled corn (No cleaning, nor blending with pellets, is necessary, but sometimes is beneficial.)

***** TRAEGER CORN FURNACES/BOILER:

The Traeger 70,000+ BTU unit, The Traeger 130,000+ BTU unit, as well as The 150,000 BTU boiler, can 'stand alone' or be used as an 'add-on'.

The BTU ratings are with wood pellets; however, most corn has 10-20% more BTU's than wood. (thus, The GBU070 would be 80,000+ BTUs burning corn.)

With CORN PRICES STILL LOW, and other fuel prices HIGH, CORN is an excellent choice as an alternative fuel---AND even if corn were $8.00+/bu, CORN would still be an economical, dependable, safe, efficient, yearly renewable fuel of choice.

The Earth Stoves featured The TRAEGER BURN SYSTEM, as do The Traeger Corn Furnaces. The TRAEGER BURN SYSTEM will burn 100% SHELLED CORN just as it comes from the grain bin(no special cleaning, nor extra drying), as well as ~100 other grains, pellets, and biomass products.

Present stock is VERY limited for freestanding and fireplace inserts, as The Earth Stove Company was purchased by Lennox (who also owns Whitfield Pellet Stoves). Management discontinued the Earth Stove units---and we can't burn corn in the Whitfield!!! This decision was made before the 2000 energy crisis.

These units were available in freestanding, fireplace inserts/zero clearance, and furnace units.
These have proven themselves as true corn burners.

We offered freestanding and fireplace inserts, (35-50,000 BTUs in addition to several sizes of furnaces (70-400,000 BTUs) and boiler (85-150,000 BTUs).
A NEW freestanding CORN burner is coming!!)

New Traeger Corn Furnaces and Boilers are being manufactured thru Pinnacle Pellet/Stove Sales, and are readily available, as are the Traeger Feed System Retrofit Kits.

We also handle 'stick'-wood and gas stoves / inserts / logs / heaters, plus campstoves and BBQ grills which will burn a blend of corn and wood pellets (most can do 50-50, however some customers can accomplish 100% corn), as well as various other products and services.

Here is some additional information on The Traeger CORN BURNING Furnaces:
We generally check(top off with corn) the hopper twice per day; then about once per week shut down the unit to remove the ashes/clinker(takes 5-15 minutes).
You will have 1 to 2% ash with corn when burning properly; soooo, not much ash! Re-Lighting is manual in the firepot.

The GBU130c/TPB150c firepot can be the ashpan, OR pull the 'slide bottom' for ashes to fall thru onto an ash tray---some times you will have to use an old screwdriver to knock the 'clinker' out of the pot. (The GBU070c firepot is cast iron; removes for ash/clinker disposal.)

Most furnaces average 1-1/2 to 2bu. of corn per day(150 to 200bu. per heating season) in a home setting; however, the GBU130/TPB150's are capable of burning 12 to 15 lb/hr (5 to 6+ bu/day 120-140,000+Btu/hr)(plug/open the 3 cups in metering cylinder to change maximum BTU's); the standard hopper holds ~160lbs, while the 070's hopper holds about 80lbs.

Upon installation, look above for an ideal area for more corn storage, and just gravity flow into the hopper using a 4" plastic pipe---otherwise an auger system will also save dumping the bag/bucket of corn into the hopper.

The Traeger CORN BURNERS are normally vented with a 4" corn/pellet-vent pipe(SS lined)required to vent outside the home/building---but it is safe to terminate without going to the eaves, or beyond.---galvanized fluepipe works fine, but no aluminum in flue as it will deteriorate from the 'corn condensation acids' in a year, or less. (Have you ever left an aluminum shovel in corn which got damp?---mine are all 'pitted'!!).
Of course, pipe 'clearance-to-combustibles' must be observed.

As previously stated, The Traeger Burn System will burn 100% shelled corn just as it comes from the grain bin(fines & all---NO special cleaning, nor extra drying), as well as ~100 other grains(soybeans & seed, too), pellets, and biomass products.
These units are true CORN BURNERS.

The 20th century has seen a dramatic change in central heating systems, from wood and coal, to oil, to heat pumps and natural gas, and back to wood again. Today, nearly all central heating systems are dependent upon electricity, natural/propane gas, or oil as a fuel source. The convenience of these modern heating systems has not come without their price tags and certain realities. Dependence on non-renewable energy resources over the past 50+ years has taught us that:

1. The SUPPLY of oil and gas is LIMITED and NON-RENEWABLE.
2. Electricity, oil, and gas costs will increase as supplies decrease.
3. If we remain dependent on these sources of energy, we will definitely face an energy crisis again!
4. If we don't learn from the past, we are doomed to repeat the mistakes of the past.
5. We must look to central heating systems that utilize renewable energy sources.
6. The upward spiral in use of non-renewable energy resources reduces these supplies and increases the costs of use.
7. Use of these diminishing resources also causes adverse effects on our environment and our fragile Eco Systems.

Wood furnaces burn a renewable resource; yet they require hard work to stoke, and typically are not very efficient, neither with heat transfer nor combustion efficiency (emissions).

Around 1980, Traeger Industries(Mt Angel, Oregon) developed the first residential CORN & pellet fired stoves and furnaces. Designed to meet coming air quality standards these corn & pellet fired units performed effectively and efficiently without the negatives of a typical wood furnace.

These early units have developed into CORN & wood pellet stoves, inserts, furnaces, and boilers that are the most efficient renewable resource burning appliances manufactured today.

For years CORN has been 'The Alternative Fuel of Choice' in the Midwest using Traeger furnaces. In addition to CORN & wood pellets, other types of renewable Biomass fuel also burn efficiently in The Traeger units.
